[Book Review] The Professional by Kresley Cole

Hello *wave her hands to the readers* How is everybody doing?

It has been a long time since I have grace you with my presence *stick her tongue out because she is part joking* But I'm here again and I bring you a new review because I read a lot...

This one was a surprise to me. I was not expecting to get hocked with this series but after reading this first book *whispers to the audience* I've read the next one already *nods in complicity* and yes, it was great too.

So... In honor of your time I will dive right into it :)

The Professional by Kresley Cole

The Game Maker Series (Book #1)
Erotic Romance published May 6th, 2014
Another titles in the series: The Master (Book #2)

SYNOPSIS (From Goodreads)

He makes the rules…

Mafiya enforcer Aleksei “The Siberian” Sevastyan’s loyalty to his boss knows no bounds, until he meets the boss’s long-lost daughter, a curvy, feisty redhead who haunts his mind and heats his blood like no other. Ordered to protect her, Aleksei will do anything to possess her as well—on his own wicked terms.

Rules are made to be broken…

Grad student Natalie Porter had barely recovered from her first sight of the dark and breathtaking Sevastyan before the professional enforcer whisks her away to Russia, thrusting her into a world of extreme wealth and wanton pleasures. Every day under his protection leads her deeper under his masterful spell.

Are you ready to play?

Yet all is not as it seems. To remove Natalie from an enemy’s reach, Sevastyan spirits her into hiding. From an opulent palace in Russia to the decadent playgrounds of the mega-wealthy in Paris, the two lovers will discover that even their darkest—and most forbidden—fantasies can come true…

MY THOUGHT ON THE PROFESSINOAL (Book #1)

How to put this without sounding like I didn't love the book? Because I was head over heals in love with it until the end.
I know it's fantasy, a novel... I kept repeating that in my mind over and over while I analysed this book... It doesn't have to reflect reality, that's the point! But I couldn't stop myself from thinking that Natalia, being a virgin (talking about sex with a man, because toys were used before by her) had just did it how she did with Sevastyan the first time.

The kink parts... Oh I get the kink parts! But the actual sex?

He was an asshole a lot of times. At the beginning I also didn't get why he kept calling her Pet but I soon understood why. It was his way to appreciate her. Shocking, I can tell that for a lot of people being call a Pet it's not a good thing, but some in the BDSM world feel like it's a good appreciation from the ones that they look up too. Different but I can get it.

There where a lot of situations where I was hyper a wear of how unreal it felt but at the same time I knew the idea it was to leave the reality and immerse myself in another world.

BDSM, just like he showed her, can be very rewarding. Surrendering can be very liberating. She is young and inexperience but he is the one with the knowledge and I really enjoy the way the author shows that. The way he care for her.

From the time I actually finished the book and the time I'm doing this review, I have to say in all honesty that I have re-read this story more than 4 times already and I'm sure it's going to be one of those that I keep coming back to over and over again.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK?

Yes, I definitely do!

Finding out your dad it's the head of the Russian mob and that he didn't knew you excited? Wow... I wouldn't have known what to do with myself.

The author it's great. I know she has this other series that it's well known: The Inmortal After Dark Series. So if you want to read something different, not paranormal related, written by Kresley Cole, you will not go wrong with this!

QUOTES

"Pet, there's something you should know.

What's that?

I wasn't asking"

"I was still considering a retreat -- Until I caught his masculine scent. Game over. I've been drugged."

"Don't ever look to another man with lust, unless you want him dead."

"I feared I was interested in pain for the wrong reasons."

"I wanted to know you, not to fix you."

As usual, let me explain you why *clear her throat*

First things first. I love the way it was written and yes, I have said above that it wasn't realistic in some details but over all it was a very well written story, the pace was great, it has all that I look for in a good book. A book that by now I have re-read a few times.

I love this book, period. It was amazing for me to see the way the author describe stuff and ease the female character into some things and throw her into others. I have a few laughs here and there.

I was so curious about Maximilian's story that when I saw that the next book was about him I jumped right into it and finished it a day later.

There are a lot of twist and turns but the main thing about this book was that make me want to read more about Russian characters, so I went into a hunt for Russian character book and have read a lot since then :P

Have you read this book?

Read it and come back so we can talk about it!

[Review] No Ifs, Ands or Bears about it by Celia Kyle

Hello, hello... Here I am again and guess what? I have another book review!

This one though it's a little different because it was not part of my TBR (To Be Read) list or part of the 2015 Reading Challenge like other books. This was just a book that I wanted to read and once I started I could not put it down.

Just one more thing... This book it's part of a four book series and I did read all of them already *stick her tongue out like a kid* and this is a series that I will read again and again and again...

No Ifs, Ands or Bears about it by Celia Kyle

Grayslake Series (Book #1)
Paranormal Shapeshifters Erotic Romance published January 5th, 2014
Another titles in the series: All Roar and No Bite, Roaring Up the Wrong Tree, Love at First Roar

SYNOPSIS (From Goodreads)

The first day of Mia’s new life in Grayslake, Georgia is not going as planned. The house her grandfather left her looks ready to crumble, boxes cover every inch of the floor and—oh—there’s a bear cub in her pantry. It gets worse when the cub’s uncle comes by and busts out his fur and claws while on her front porch. Then it gets loads better because suddenly there’s a hot hunk of badge-wearing werebear on her lawn ready to rescue her. Yum. Of course, he has to ruin things by trying to take the cub out of her hands. Ha! The cub is hers… No ifs, ands, or bears about it.

Werebear Ty can’t seem to get the curvaceous, delectable Mia to understand that, even if she is one-quarter werebear, she isn’t keeping the cub. Ty is the Grayslake Itan, the clan’s leader, and the little werebear is going home with him… Unless it isn’t. It’s her smile. If she’d stop smiling and being gorgeous, his inner-bear would support him and Ty would get his way. But the beast wants to make their woman happy, so it’s perfectly content to let her do as she pleases. Then things change. Threats arise, danger comes close, and Ty demands she return to his den. No ifs, ands, or mates about that.

MY THOUGHT ON GRAYSLAKE (Book #1)

(Disclaimer: This part could contain little spoilers)

I found this book because it was a recommendation on Amazon considering another book that I was just done with that involved werebears. Really people? Werebears?? In my own little mind there was only werewolves but apparently I was wrong LOL.

Mia was a very interesting character to meet but I loved her, specially after she made Parker (a 4 years old little werebear) her own baby and told the werebear leader that the baby was hers and if he wanted to take the cub from her it would be over her decaying body. That was a bold move to make considering Ty was not only the leader of the werebears but also the Sheriff.

The sexy tension between Ty and Mia, the way Parker cling to her like a baby starving for love and how things were getting more and more bloody and complicated made the book great reading. More so when things starting to unfold and let me tell you this, Celia Kyle knows how to come up with stuff that I was NOT expecting as plot twist and turns. She left me, more often than not, with my mouth open because of what was happening and thinking: I did NOT see that coming, damn it!

I won't give any spoilers, at least no more than I already did, right? *looks to see if she did and sigh* I didn't... Good. But going back to what I was saying. I would love to share with you some stuff about the books but anything I think to write it's a little more spoiler than the tought before it so... Nop.

What I can tell you is that this book it's part of a 4 book series and I already finished all of the books. I could not stop reading, I swear! I've never thought that I would be so much in love with bears being shifters but what can I say? I'll probably ditch a werewolf for a werebear anytime now hahahaha

It's an erotic romance so don't get surprise with the stuff that goes in the book and another thing that kept me with this series and this book in particular was that the female character falls for the strong man, yes, but she is strong herself and have a mind of her own *thinks a little* Ok, let me SPOILER ALERT this next thing so I can give you a fun example (if you don't want spoilers, don't read this next paragraph!)

[ In one of the chapters, Mia it's sitting with Ty on a meeting with his brother Van and they were discussing something about Parker's future while Ty was "distracting" her. Then he asked her if she was ok with what they say and kept distracting her, not letting her think clearly *cofkissingcof* And she stopped him and told him that she was not Ok with whatever they say and I quote: No, stop that. Bad furball. Mind you that Ty it's the town sheriff and werebear leader and she told him that! ]

DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK?

Yes, Yes, Yes!

This was a book that I was not expecting to have such a fun reading, but oh man I did. I was laughing and with a smile on my face most of the time. The story it's well written, the fight scenes and the romantic scenes are pretty great. And don't get me started with the "shit of crackers" and the "language" that you will read a lot in this one.

A great love story, paranormal shifters romance. I was not expecting werebears, I did not tought of werebears before, only wolf shifters but now...
Now I have a THING for bears!

QUOTES

"No ifs, ands, or bears about it, his furry butt is staying right here. Possession is nine tenths of the law and all that"

"If you or that man try to take him from me, you'll get a rear end full of buckshot and I won't send you a get well card"

"No, stop that. Bad furball"

My rating it's 4 stars for this book. I wish I could give it a 5 but even though I love this story, it was greatly written, fun to read, with a lot of curve balls and action in a lot of ways... I can't give it more because I only give 5 stars to stories I die after I'm down with them and want to live in the story myself, so...

I won't deny that I loved the book, yes, I did. I finished it a day so I can't complain and I jumped right into the next book of the series after it.

I have to warn you though. It's not such a light read if you want to keep up with the story, the romance yes, the whole story plot no, it's not so easy. That said, there is no strange words and if they are (like Itan or Itana) the author explain them through the book so there is no problem at all.

I left this book with a love for werebears even more cemented in my heart :)

Have you read this book?

Read it and come back so we can talk about it!

[Review] Four Play by Maya Banks and Shayla Black

Hello again my great reader friends!

How did you enjoy last week Book Review? Did you pick up Kelly Elliott's book? Did you leave a comment? *wiggle her eyebrows*

This time I have another Book Review, for the Week #03 draw of the 2015 Reading Challenge from the great Spice Up Your Reading jar :)

The premise was reading An Anthology and like the good, crazy ass girl I am, I picked an erotic book to read *lick her lips* And just let me tell you, I did NOT regret my decision.

Disclaimer: Picture from Goodreads

Four Play by Maya Banks and Shayla Black

Erotic Romance Menage Anthology published October 5th, 2010

SYNOPSIS (From Goodreads)

In Pillow Talk by Maya Banks, Zoe is a woman in a committed relationship with her boyfriend Chase. Then one night, Chase reveals his number-one fantasy, which involves his two best buddies. Is Zoe game? She sure is, because it opens the door for a secret fantasy all her own. In Shayla Black's Her Fantasy Men, a girly-girl named Kelsey plays football, craves action movies, and loves knocking back a cold beer with her three best friends-all male. Yet she's never seemed sexually interested in any one of these hot guys. So what does Kelsey want? A fantasy come true for all four of them.

MY THOUGHT ON PILLOW TALK (Story #1)

(Disclaimer: This part could contain little spoilers)

I have no words to describe how much I loved this story. I was honestly speechless when I was done with this short erotic romance and the way that I felt it was the thing that shocked me the most.

Leaving aside the fact that it was utterly HOT... I felt like... This girl I could totally relay too in the way that if my life was different and I was in another's womans body... Like hers for example... This was something that could have happen to me.

A boyfriend open to explore your darkest, kinkiest fantasies with you but that even when he fulfill your crazy ass sex fantasy he is taking care of you, protecting you, making sure everything goes well for you and that you are safe and happy? Damn! I want some of that please!

AND add to the mix two hot best friends that love you like no other could and are willing to work with you boyfriend to be with you too? There is something better than that?!

MY THOUGHT ON HER FANTASY MEN (Story #2)

(Disclaimer: This part could contain little spoilers)

This story has a little bit more fantasy in it than the one before but I still enjoy it fully. Also I have to say that the way Shayla Black writes it's as much erotic as you could hope it to be girls... Oh and the men *big sigh* Holy crap the men...

I mean... Come on... You can't really have your firefighter neighbor, your cowboy best friend from childhood and your boss all having the hots for you at the same time, can you? And if you ever did, I envy you with every single fiber of my body.

I can see the troubles in having three hot and oh so different men trying to have you all to themself but the fact that the end of this story was like it was... Oh-My-Freaking-God!

Written in a way that was really good, with no mistaking the situations and the reasons behind the action of every character. I have to say that Shayla Black made a great job with this story. Which I will be re-reading... A LOT!

DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK?

HELL YEAH!

I was more than excited when I finished this book. I was high with a dose of erotic so good as I have not felt in a long, long time.

If you like a story where you could easily dream yourself into the shoes of the main female character, loved and fucked by three of the most amazingly gorgeous, attentive and great lovers on earth. So you end up having them as your partners for the rest of your life in your dreams. Pick this book up!!

Four stars it's my rating for this book in general. The two stories where great and this is one for my "Re-Read books list" without a moment of doubt. This two authors are amazing at what they do and I pretty much-loved their work. Maya Banks surprise me with her story and Shayla Black... well... If you like erotic novels, you should have at least heard of her somewhere, right? I sure did :)

Have you read this book?

If not then what are you waiting for?!

Read it and come back so we can talk about it!

[Review] Broken by Kelly Elliott

Hello everyone! How are you all? Mid January and I'm back with something new in this blog that I hope you enjoy because I'm thinking of making it a regular thing (in a way).

I'm going to do a book review for you today and the book I'm going to talk about it's the first one in the Broken Series by Kelly Elliott.

This book was my choise for the Week #02 of the 2015 Reading Challenge draw from the Spice Up Your Reading jar :)

The premise was reading something about a Southern Author, and when I saw that paper with the writing I just couldn't shake this book out of my head. I have bought it from Amazon Kindle and I was itching to read it. I did a little research and BINGO, Kelly Elliott it is, in fact a country girl!

Broken by Kelly Elliott

Broken Series (Book #1)
New Adult Romance published November 17th, 2013
Another titles in the series: Broken Dreams, Broken Promises

SYNOPSIS (From Goodreads)

Layton Morris and his brother Mike grew up not knowing what it would be like to live in a normal home. With no running water or electricity in their home, no parents around to protect them, they quickly learned how to survive and depend only on each other.

When a tragic accident takes Mike away from Layton, and the only other person that he ever let into his heart walked away from him, leaving his heart shattered, Layton focuses all of his time and energy into the ranch he and his brother dreamed of. He makes a vow to himself to never let love in again. The last thing Layton needed or wanted was more heartache.

Whitley Reynolds grew up in a privileged home in upstate New York. When she landed the star football player in high school no one was surprised, not even Whitley. She dreamed of a life with Roger living in New York City and happily followed him there.

The first time Roger hit her for arguing with him about a dinner party, she forgave him. The more it happened, the further Whitley withdrew from her friends and family. One fateful day things go to far. Whitley makes a promise to herself and finds the courage to do the one thing she thought she’d never be able to do.

Fleeing with her best friend Courtney, Whitley was determined to put her past behind her and start a new life in the small town of Llano, Texas, where no one would ever find out about her past.

Will they both ever learn to trust and love again, or will their pasts come back to haunt them, keeping them both alone and…
Broken.

MY THOUGHT ON BROKEN #1

(Disclaimer: This part could contain little spoilers)

I really enjoy reading this New Adult Romance with a double point of view, one from each of the main characters (Layton and Whitley). It was easy to read, kept me smiling most of the time and wanting to read more.

My favorite character was Courtney, Whitley’s best friend. She was crazy as you can’t even imagine, outrageously funny and the things she said to her friend kept me laughing. Mix that with the fact that the girl reads books for a living and she got me good. The story was not about Courtney though, that will come in the 2nd book of this trilogy (so far).

Layton was another character I enjoy, not only for his good looks and the fact that he was not a man to break a promise, but because he was not afraid to let the tears go and cry if it was necessary. From joy or sorrow, either way I love it because it makes him even more beautiful in my eyes, more human.

I couldn’t put it down. It kept me interested all the way thru the end of the book and I have to say, even when it was a little corny at some point, the author made a hell of a job with this book and I want to read more of what she had written.

The parts that I enjoy the most where mostly the hole “I bet you can’t read this book and not reach for a vibrator” (yes, Courtney said this to Whitley) and the part when Layton was talking to his ex almost by the end of the book.

Buy the way, the book that was mentioned in this novel, the one Courtney gave to Whitley to read on her kindle. Look it up! It’s on Amazon and O-M-G!

Not the entire book was amazing, the story of course it was but there were a few things I didn’t like very much. The romance develops too fast, like a love-at-first-sight-but-I-will-not-accepted kind of thing and not very realistic for me. I had not even notice the pass of time if the author had not mention it here or there. I didn’t like the repetition and the winking. I don’t know if in Texas the cowboys wink a lot but it was a little too much for my taste.

Something else that bothers me was the fact that whenever Layton and Courtney touch in any way they felt this “electricity” between them. I’m sorry to say but there it’s only one book that I remember has the same description that happen between characters and I’m not naming it because I don’t want people killing me. And adding to the unrealistic part was that fact of “I knew you were the one since the moment I saw you for the first time” talks. Romantic, yes, but really?

I guess I was looking for a little more realism in this novel and forgot that it’s a New Adult Romance, not a real life romance *laugh a little* Also I was looking to see how the pieces of both broken characters where glued back together but I didn’t felt that pain that comes with being broken so badly for the things that happen to them. I did feel the love thou and that was good.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK?

If you like cuss words, hotter than life cowboys, ridiculous bets between friends, fights that had no reason what so ever, stupid decisions and love, so much love (and sex).
What are you waiting for??

I can even tell that if you get to the very end of the book and you don’t want to read the second book of the series you are insane, my friend, you are crazy. Because... well I can't ruin the end for you but DAMN! I want to know so many things and trust me, so will you :)

QUOTES

There was only one quote that stuck with me besides all the normal romance "I love you" kind of quotes. It was what Layton said to his ex-girlfriend, Olivia. I remember because I thought "WOW. That it's deep. I'm amazed that he knew the difference and told her that"

"We weren't in love. We were in lust"

I gave this book 3 starts. Some of you may ask why and I will explain myself, after all this is only my personal opinion on this book and I'm not a certify reader (if such a thing exist or not, I don't know LOL).
I did enjoy the book. I couldn't put it down. It's funny, romantic and a love story. I will read it again some time. But I was not in-love with it completely and there were some minor things that the author could have made better in my opinion.
It's a good book, a light read and great to entertain the idea of romantic love in a way that only movies or books could :)

Have you read this book?

If not then go find it (if you want to, of course)!

Read it and come back so we can talk about it!

Mis Whatsapp con Mamá - Book Review

I come today with a little different kind of blog post and I hope you... My silent readers... If you are out there of course... You should be out there, right? *start to panick*

Ok... Ok... Enough with that over reaction on my part, of course you are out there! I am not insane!

Today I bring to you a Book Review because I read this book and I love it so much and I think all of you should read it too so you can laugh and love it too :)

Tittle: Mis whatsapp con mamá

Original Tittle: Avec Maman

Author: Alban Orsini

Editorial: Grijalbo

Pages: 384

Price (Spanish Version): 17,29 US$

Price (French Version): 18,71 US$

This book it's in Spanish but I think there is an English version *looks for it* Nop, not yet, sorry English people... but there is a French version on Amazon, and also a Catalán version if I am not crazy *looks all around her and then gets closer to the readers* I will tell you a little secret... but shhhhhh don't tell anybody else... If you look for it on Google you can find it in .epub format in Spanish.

Synopsis
"CijkiopplypM'po" is the first whatsapp a mother sends her son with her new smartphone. Just started on new technologies and excited about the ease of breaking into the daily live of her offspring, learn to handle the new phone at the expense of the patient boy.

My whatsapp with Mom is a hilarious story of a mother and child through the messages exchanged with mobile phone. A modern, emotional, and above all, very funny novel, which tells of the bond between parents and children and generation gaps.

My Opinion / Review
How on earth did I found this book? Well... I don't even remember and it was this past few days, Monday at the least. We were talking about my mother getting a new phone and wich one she should be getting and all that *smiles* Between us, she still confuses Whatsapp with Facebook sometime, but that is not here nor there.

The point is I don't remember but as soon as I saw that tittle and the picture I set myself to get it, one way or the other... And today I did! *nods* Yes, I got it today and read it in an hour, tops. It has 384 pages but it's a light and easy reading because each page is a picture of a phone with the conversation like you where reading from Whatsapp itself.

I could not stop laughing the entire book... Not the end of course but the conversations are so true and I could not, also, compare with what it will be when my mom get her phone with whatsapp soon. If with a cheap regular phone she is anoying, can you imagine what it will be?

Anyway... This is a very light reading, fast, realistic, simple, easy to read and with a great message at the end. No plot to unravel, no complicated characters, nothing. If you are looking for a good time, fun and moments that will trigger memories of situations with you mom, giggles between pages and series of nodding because you agree or have been in a similar situation, this is the book for you.
